I need to know if I am the only person who has ever wanted to drop everything and move to New Zealand. I've put some serious thought into this. I could run a t-shirt stand on the beach, and Hubbie could be a deep sea fishing guide and (especially now that he's finally on board with the concept) we could both wear flip flops every single day. Lupe could hang out with me in the beach shack, and I could drink frozen lemonade all day long. It doesn't have to be t-shirts and fishing-- we could be bakers. I'm not even picky about it being New Zealand. I've researched Guam quite a bit, and I'm pretty sure I'd be reasonably content there, too.
Don't get me wrong, I know that I have a wonderful life. I have a good job, a beautiful home (or at least one that will be beautiful once we can coax the flowers back to life and get all of our crap arranged inside) and a wonderful family close enough to feed us Sunday dinners. I'm certain I would miss Redbox and Cafe Rio and Tanner Park and hanging out with the Janssens every weekend. I wouldn't miss the snow (except maybe exactly on Christmas Eve) or lake stink or 9-5 employment that prohibits flip flops entirely or that terrible theme song/jingle from Fox13.
Anyone else ever have lofty dreams of selling shot glasses and puca shell necklaces to tourists? Sounds beautiful to me.
Oh Kris....yes. dropping everything and moving to the beach would be awesome! Although, it gets quite cold in New Zealand and they are not really beachy beaches like others in the Pacific. I recommend Fiji, Palau, heck- stay in America and just make it Hawaii. On Kauai, they have huge hippi colonies where nobody has jobs and they just lounge on the beach eating the fruit that falls off the trees. One downside- clothes are optional..Im not that free spirited myself.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could get benefits by working part-time at a tanning salon. It just seems like an "easy" job without as much stress as what I currently do (which is hassle ppl for rent payments).
ReplyDeleteOr I want Kev to start any kind of business he wants in whatever country he wants just so I can work for him.
I feel ya.
Hi, I know Patrick from our old family ward, and I saw your blog on Samanthas.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I went to Aruba on our honeymoon, and now everytime I see a beautiful beach and palm trees in commercials it makes me want to cry. It was pure paradise to be there and so sureal! But the reality... probably wont ever go back.
Yes that would be nice to just drop everything. My friend Wanda, her dad lives in Hawaii and that's all he does. She would talk about it all time! Personally I wouldn't mind going to the beach everyday, that would be the life!! Hope everything is going good for you guys!
ReplyDeleteOn a different note, you should post a pic of your dog, Ky would LOVE to see him! She's obsessed with dogs!!

I am in. I have always said waxing surf boards in Hawaii is what I am ready to drop everything to go do. Sunshine, flip-flops, beautiful water, and shaved ice everyday. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I wore flip-flops twice this week. You should just do it, all the cool kids are. :) I totally plan to claim ignorance however if anyone says anything to me. But you didn't hear me say that ;)
oh man... ESPECIALLY since i just got home from vacation... the real world does not sound too great right now. i'm with you... i LOVE my life... but it would be great to not have to worry about bills and adult life stuff. *sigh*
